Roll-Royce
Silver Shadow II

1979

Totally original presentation and in exceptional condition

This is a very fine Silver Shadow II finished in 2-tone Silver Sand (metallic) over Masons black (non-metallic) with black fine-lines on the waistline. The interior is finished in factory original, un-touched black Connolly hide leather with light tan accent piping on the seats and matching carpets in the reverse them of tan with black piping. This combination is rarely seen on Shadow IIs and is handsomely striking. The combination ties in well with exterior colour scheme.

This is a very clean and original example that appears to have been a well cared for example by its 3 previous mature owners. It is totally original in presentation with no modifications. It even has it original Blaupunkt blue-dot push button radio and factory Pioneer tape deck in its original position. A nice genuine touch.

The body on this Shadow II is very straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The car appears to have been repainted some 15 years ago and was a high quality job in her original colours. When you look down the sides of the car, they are very straight and true. The paint presents beautifully with only minor little marks here and there from use and does have some of the Rolls-Royce signature stressing at the base of the A & C pillars, but these are minimal and otherwise entirely consistent with a low-mileage 15 year old, good quality paint job. Certainly, it needs nothing other than a wax from time to time. The underside of the car is rust free and is very clean. Overall, the car is minor on blemishes and marks, so presents well - well above average for a Rolls-Royce of this age. As a daily driver, the paint presents as a 10 out-of-10.

The interior presents stunningly, very clean and fresh with the leather in an excellent state. Importantly, and rare to see today, the Connolly hides have NEVER been re-dyed. This is something quite unique as usually the leather after this many years becomes soiled and begins to crack. This is the best testament for the car being a low-mileage and well-cared for example. The leather is not only "clean" but remains supple. For some reason, black leather shows up every crease in photos and so please do not be mistaken those crease lines to think it is cracked and dry. It is nice and soft and shows with the perfect amount of natural patina (like a lovely antique chesterfield couch). The dramatic black with light tan piping is stunning.

The wood on this Shadow II is also all original. A couple of minor hair-line fractures in the door cappings are quite welcomed with the knowledge that the finish is totally factory original. Further testament of a well-kept example. The dash is very nice also. In the photos, the various lines you see in the clear are actually reflections of the seat piping reflecting into the wood. The wood otherwise presents quite well; not perfect, but very nice!

Further bonuses include; dash roll in excellent condition, very clean broad-cloth headlining and the signature Wilton wool carpets in excellent shape. The tan carpeting with black piping theme of the carpet carries through to the trunk and is in great condition.

All features, gauges, instruments and electrics work well. All interior lights and dash lights are all fully working. Heater and air-conditioning are fully functional. These are all thoroughly gone thru by Park-Ward. For example, we service all the windows to ensure smooth and swift up and down movement (windows often get very slow over time on Silver Shadows).

Mechanically, the car is subject to the 40 year service and restoration experience of the Park-Ward Motor Museum's private workshop and trained RR mechanics and craftsmen. Like every other car delivered by Park-Ward it comes with everything in excellent working and operating condition, fully inspected and serviced. This includes the all-important hydraulics & brakes - fully inspected and pressure tested with any parts replaced and/or over-hauled as required -  reservoir, pumps, accumulators, valves, hoses, calipers. All electrics; seats, windows, gauges and instruments are fully gone thru and serviced as required. The climate control in good working order with the heater nice and hot and the air conditioning blowing icy cold. In summary, the car is shipped with everything fully operational, down to the smallest light bulb. Truly “turn-key”.

The 49,000 odd miles, although not verifiable by documentation, is evident when you look closely at the various finishes. For example, the chrome and bright-work around the car is excellent. The brake pedal has minimal wear. This is a hard car to fault and drives very strong. As you would expect from a car of this mileage that has been well maintained, it comes with its original manual, tools and jack.

~~ This is a lovely example of the Silver Shadow II marque which presents very well in its 2-tone Sand over Black exterior, complementing handsomely with the interior in the reverse theme. It is not a show car but an excellent 10-out-of-10 daily driver that is in all-round well above average condition.  ~~

International bidders are always welcome.
