The last 48th Silver Shadow made and Rare Fuel Injection Model!
Here is a really fine and stunning example of a Silver Wraith II. It is the rare fuel injection model built specifically for the Californian market. These were only built in 1980 – the last year of the Silver Shadow model run. This one is production run 41,603C – the “C” suffix is for California fuel injection model.. With the last Silver Shadow/Wraith II being 41,648C, this car is within the last 50 Silver Wraith IIs ever made! In fact, of the 35,000 Silver Shadows, this one is one of the last.
The Silver Wraith II is the long wheel base version of the Silver Shadow II. Easily identified by the same rear window (opera window) and standard fitment Everflex vinyl top, it is 4” longer in the rear door. This provides a noticeable increase in rear passenger space.
This example is finished in gorgeous 2-tone Caribbean Blue over Shell Grey (silver) metallic with a matching grey Everflex top. Dual hand-painted fine-lines in grey adorn the waist-rails. The interior is finished in a very rich Navy blue with grey seat piping and rug binding to carry through the external colour theme of blue and grey.
This is a totally clean and unmolested example that has been lovingly maintained all its life. It presents in original fashion right down to its factory Blaupunkt push button radio and Pioneer cassette player. A pampered Rolls-Royce, it was owned by a small-time Atlanta based Rolls-Royce collector and enthusiast that has lovingly maintained the car correctly. It is a Rolls-Royce that has been regularly driven and even on long tours which is so good for these cars. Having lived most its life in California she is very clean and dry throughout. Only in the last ten years has she been in the southern state and when not in use, always kept in a garaged environment.
The interior presents very beautifully. The navy blue and grey piping theme is simply delightful. The leather is all in excellent condition, supple and without any major imperfection.
The burr walnut wood finishes are very rich in grain and colour contrast. The door cappings appear to have been re-finished at some point (we estimate in the last 5 years) and were done extremely well presenting in entirely original finish and consistency. They are simply flawless. The rest of the wood on the dash is in good condition and presents well with only minor imperfections. Head lining is original and in super clean condition. The
The body on this Wraith II is straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The car was repainted about 10 years ago and done so extremely well at a cost of some $25,000. It is in excellent presentation. It is entirely consistent with a deep lustre and shine, in need of nothing going forward but keeping her that way. The Everflex vinyl top is new from a few years ago and so presents perfectly.
This car also has the European (Rest of World) colour-coded front air dam fitted.
The whitewall tyres are in good near new condition with plenty of tread. The hubcaps, unique to the Wraith II, are excellent with no dents or imperfections. All remaining bright-work is in good condition as is glass, electrics and instruments.
The odometer shows a very moderate 58,000 miles and although not verifiable it is justifiable by the overall condition of the car that they are original. For example, under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life. You must take the time to look at the photos of the engine bay as its presentation is of an extremely high standard. Simply stunning!
The car is of very high standard and is an easy 10 out of 10 driver-condition rating.
Like all Park-Ward Motors’ cars, she is subject to our unmatched “Predelivery Commissioning” program whereby all aspects of the car are gone through to ensure correct performance and all major and minor services are up to date. Under our care, every Rolls-Royce we sell is fully work-shop serviced and tested to include the all-important hydraulics and braking system. Most often overhauled where required; pumps, accumulators, reservoirs cleaned, lines & hoses replaced, calipers & pads replaced/serviced and system final pressure tested and bled. Transmission, drive-train, engine ancillaries and exhaust are all inspected and the car road-tested for correct operation. The Predelivery Commissioning process also addresses operational features to include climate control (AC & heater), windows, seats, central locking and so on. At the end of the program, the car is delivered “turn-key”. No one else does this and it is all included in the purchase price.
~~ This stately Silver Wraith II is an excellent condition representation of the marque that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. It makes for an excellent driver or point of discussion at your next Rolls-Royce meet! ~~
Rare fuel injected car ~ easily identified by the twin tail-pipes on each side.
~~ **Please note: All Park-Ward Motors’ cars, once sold, undergo a process known as “Predelivery Commissioning” which is a detailed procedure for bringing all service and maintenance up to date before shipping to you as the new owner. As an experienced and professional restorer and collector of some 45 years, we have our own in-house Rolls-Royce dedicated service facility with qualified craftsmen on hand. Although our cars have already undergone workshop inspection PRIOR to being offered for sale, once sold, it will be put thru our workshop to ensure all major and minor services are up to date, is mechanically maintained in good shape and all major features and functions are operating as they should. The “Predelivery Commissioning” process ensures your new Rolls-Royce is turn-key. This is all done at NO CHARGE. We do this even though the car is contractually being sold "as-is". As a passionate collector of the marque I take great pride and pleasure in passing on any of these great cars to its next owner (“caretaker”). Who else selling a Rolls-Royce on eBay does this?! Depending on our work load, please allow approximately 21 business days for this process. For more information on the Park-Ward Motor Museum and our skills, please eBay message me and I would be happy to show you some 200+ Rolls-Royces restored to varying levels over the last few years ~~
The “Wraith II” mark provided considerable improvement over the earlier Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base. In 1977, the long wheel base cars were renamed the Silver Wraith II in recognition of several major changes, most notably rack and pinion steering, modifications to the front suspension which improved handling markedly, a dual exhaust along with the first-to-market fully automatic dual system air-conditioning system and a modernised and improved dash lay-out. The model represents the pinnacle in design features for the Silver Shadow series that started production in 1966.
