Last of the chrome bumpers ~ a stunning and beautiful presenting example!
Presenting here, a really gorgeous example of a Silver Shadow. This is the last of the chrome bumper cars wherein this very same year, American spec cars switched to rubber/chrome “impact” bumpers. Finished in 2-tone Silver Mink over Seychelles blue with matching fine lines to the waist-rails. The interior has handsome dark blue Connolly hides accented with light blue piping. The interior connects beautifully with the exterior combination.
This is an unmolested example that has been meticulously maintained by Park-Ward Motors for the last 10 years. Regularly serviced and whatever needed, attended to by its car collector owners. The car has attended many Rolls-Royce shows since 2015 and won awards.
Very original in presentation - right down to the original 8-track player but with a modern Blaupunkt added for convenience and sound quality. This was a southern state car and whilst in Illinois has NEVER been used in inclement weather but climate control stored by the previous owners.
The Silver Shadow presented here has been work-shop inspected where all work needed is carried out. Important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes are fully inspected and serviced as required. This includes checking of all brake hoses and system pressure tested and bled. Brakes pumps have been rebuilt, new accumulators fitted, calipers and pads serviced. It is ready to drive and enjoy. The odometer shows 19,000 miles and we believe with accuracy she is 119,000 miles (5digit odometer). Moderate mileage is good for these cars but with that said, if one was told this car had half the mileage, you would believe it when you consider the overall condition (particularly when you look at the condition of the interior, under-hood, and body). It is very quiet and smooth on the road without any of the typical “thumps” and “rattles” typical of lesser maintained examples of this model. She holds her poise very well, even at high speeds.
The interior displays just the perfect amount of patina. The dark blue leather is in good condition with no tears nor fading and true to its Connolly characteristics. The leather really has been lovingly preserved. The burr walnut wood throughout the car is very good. It is in fact all original and not refinished, which in itself is testament of the car’s pampered life. There are some minor fractures in the clear finish in some areas but these are minor and the originality far outweighs these minor imperfections. The burl walnut in this example has a deep ochre hue and is truly magnificent.
The head lining is original and in good condition. The original
The body on this Shadow is very straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The car was repainted some 15 years ago and was a very high quality job. When you look down the sides of the car, they are straight and true. The paint presents beautifully with only very minimal marks and blemishes. Certainly, the paint needs nothing other than a wax from time to time.
The car has 215/75 white-wall tyres with plenty of tread and the stainless hubcaps are excellent with no notable imperfections. All remaining bright-work is in good condition. All electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. Even the clock keeps good time!
Under the bonnet, the presentation is all original. It has not been detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its well-maintained life. The under-bonnet heat pads are the originals in good condition.
As you would expect, this Silver Shadow comes with its original jack, correct tools and operating manual.
The car is of very high standard and is an easy 10 out of 10 driver rating.
~~ This stately Silver Shadow is an excellent condition representation of the marque that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. It makes for an excellent driver for either everyday driving or sunny weekend enjoyment. Do nothing to her and take her to your next Rolls-Royce meet - you will attract considerable attention! ~~
~~ **Please note: All Park-Ward Motors’ cars, once sold, undergo a process known as “Predelivery Commissioning” which is a detailed procedure for bringing all service and maintenance up to date before shipping to you as the new owner. As an experienced and professional restorer and collector of some 45 years, we have our own in-house Rolls-Royce dedicated service facility with qualified craftsmen on hand. Although our cars have already undergone workshop inspection PRIOR to being offered for sale, once sold, it will be put thru our workshop to ensure all major and minor services are up to date, is mechanically maintained in good shape and all major features and functions are operating as they should. The “Predelivery Commissioning” process ensures your new Rolls-Royce is turn-key. This is all done at NO CHARGE. We do this even though the car is contractually being sold "as-is". As a passionate collector of the marque I take great pride and pleasure in passing on any of these great cars to its next owner (“caretaker”). Who else selling a Rolls-Royce on eBay does this?! Depending on our work load, please allow approximately 21 business days for this process. For more information on the Park-Ward Motor Museum and our skills, please eBay message me and I would be happy to show you some 200+ Rolls-Royces restored to varying levels over the last few years ~~
