Silver Cloud

A simply stunning restoration making her one of the world’s best examples!

 1959

Fully restored to not only show quality, but museum quality!

Words are simply not enough to describe this stunning and “like-new” 1959 Silver Cloud. Finished in Sand over Walnut with Beige Vaumol Connolly leather upholstery fashioning everything in a very precisely original and factory manner of condition. This is a true museum quality restoration.

This car has been meticulously restored by two of the world’s best when it comes to Silver Clouds; Mssrs Ralph and Simon Curzon. And it truly shows.

As a multiple award-winning example of the marque, it shows without any hesitation the level of restoration invested into this motorcar; some $400,000 worth over 35 years!

The car is well known to the Curzon team (Zenith Motor Company) having come to them as far back as 1989. Over 4 years, Mr Ralph Curzon restored the car to include; body-work, paint, chrome and bright-work, wood, headliner and leather.

Mechanically, Mr Curzon did pretty much everything; an engine and gearbox rebuild, steering box, front suspension and brakes all round.

The entire AC and heating system was also restored. This is one of the first Silver Clouds ordered with factory air conditioning as evidenced by factory build sheets.

The car was enjoyed and cared for in the years to follow to then be reintroduced to Simon Curzon by the subsequent owner. In Simon’s artisan hands, work was carried out on the differential, rear springs, brakes, new exhaust and radiator, radio, rear chassis restoration and the very meticulous process of detail finishing and preparation of the car for RROC concours judging. The car, and as a result of the Curzon’s work, has taken out RROC awards including at the most recent Rolls-Royce 20025 event in Colorado Springs.

The engine bay and underside is an absolute work of art. To suggest it is “like-new” is an understatement by the many who use that term loosely. This car’s underbelly is truly like new museum quality. Pretty much every nut, bolt, washer, screw and fitting has been cad plated and/or cleaned and polished. It is the true definition of the term “nut & bolt restoration. Please take the time to look at all the photos and a video dedicated just to the underside of the car.

The car is simply amazing. Those who know me, understand my reservation in using exaggerated description adjectives but on this occasion I can confidently and comfortably use them all; immaculate, pristine, like-new. Pretty much all is flawless and close to perfect as you would expect from the Curzon restoration team.

The car also has a very interesting history. The first owner was J. George Stewart, a highly regarded architect who was appointed to the position of Architect of the Capitol in 1954. His bio is below.

At the end of the day, this 1959 Silver Cloud would rank as probably the best in existence. She is no $40-60,000 eBay example but a pinnacle example of the model. Needless to say, she is priced accordingly and yet significantly cheaper than what it would cost to reproduce today.

Buy the best at a fraction of the cost to replicate.

*The Architect of the Capitol is the federal agency responsible for the maintenance, operation, development, and preservation of the United States Capitol Complex. It is an agency of the legislative branch of the federal government and is accountable to the United States Congress and the Supreme Court. Both the agency and the head of the agency are called “Architect of the Capitol”. The head of the agency is appointed by a vote of a congressional commission for a ten-year term. Prior to 2024, the president of the United States appointed the architect upon confirmation vote by the United States Senate, and was accountable to the president.

~~ This stately Silver Cloud is nothing short of a master-piece of restorations.

Carried out by one of the world’s best in the field, she represents a pinnacle of the marque. Make no mistake, this is a show-class example that will not disappoint even the most critical collector ~~
