Rolls-Royce
Silver Shadow
1969
Handsomely gorgeous and desirable early “chrome bumper” car
beautifully restored by Rolls-Royce experts ~ stunning!
This is another gorgeous presenting Silver Shadow sedan brought to you by the Park-Ward Motors Museum; America’s number 1 Silver Shadow provider. Finished in 2-tone Tudor grey over quasi Shell Grey with light blue/grey Connolly hide interior, she is absolutely magnificent. With hand-painted grey fine lines to the waist-rails and hubcap beauty trim rings complementing accordingly. The combination is quintessentially English.
This car was a Southern state car most of its life and then, through us, came into the hands of a conscientious enthusiast in Kentucky where the car has resided in the last few years. When we received the car back in 2016 it was in good shape and certainly an above average example only needing minor cosmetic refurbishment. Mechanically, we went right through her bringing all maintenance and major and minor services up to date.
The exterior of the car is straight and rust free with the underside clean and tidy. The paint is in excellent condition with the finish high in lustre and consistent all over. The Tudor grey top-half was repainted by us and presents beautifully. The lower colour was previously repainted some 10 years ago and needed nothing. Today, the car remains pretty much blemish free with only the most minor marks and overall, the exterior presents absolutely beautifully with all chrome and glass in good condition. Inside door edges and jams are clean and tidy.
The interior of the car is excellent if not stunning. The interior leather is entirely original Connolly from factory and remains soft and supple. It was lightly re-Connolised by us back in 2016 and still presents beautifully today. The interior is without any tears or unsightly wear marks. Door panels, interior chrome work, gauges and instruments are all in very fine condition. The car even sports its original “solid state” push-button radio.
The light African burl walnut was also done by Park-Ward and displays in the traditional high gloss Rolls-Royce glass-like finish. There is some $4,500 invested in the refinished wood alone. This includes all 4 doors, dash, console, window surround and rear vanity mirrors. It presents extremely well – to factory standards – displaying very rich ochre tones that only burl walnut has to offer.
Mechanically the car is offered in very fine shape. All Park-Ward cars go thru an intensive reconditioning process at our in-house service facilities. This includes addressing all the hydraulics/braking system. All maintenance and services are brought up to date to include important expensive items – such as brake pumps, accumulators, calipers, pads and brake lines. The engine truly purrs and gear-change is smooth and quiet. The car is very spritely in power which is a good sign of a well cared for and good condition motor. The odometer reads some 66,000 miles and although not verifiable, the car looks every bit a low mileage example.
Tyres are near new 215/75-15 whitewalls with plenty of tread and present well. The hubcaps are straight and the stainless steel shiny. As is all the remaining brightwork on the car that was all machine buffed and then hand-polished when we did the paintwork.
A/C blows ice cold and the heater works well. Electricals are all serviced by Park-Ward so windows, seats and features & functions work as they should. All interior and exterior lighting has been checked with all bulbs and lamps operating correctly.
This Silver Shadow very comfortably ranks as a 10-out-of-10 driver quality example.
~~ A pedigree Silver Shadow, in all, this is a wonderful example that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Although not technically of “show standard”, you could easily drive her as is to your next club meet and remain proud if not take out a prize. It ranks very comfortably as a 10 out of 10 driver. ~~
We have sold many Rolls-Royces around the world so all international buyers are very welcome!
