Silver Shadow II

1977

A simply STUNNING example!

Here is a really stunning example of a Silver Shadow II. Finished in 2-tone Silver Sand over Walnut – a masculine combination with chocolate fine lines to the waist-rails and beige tan to the hub cap beauty rings. Walnut is a an amazing colour in that in subdue light it is dark and elegantly understated, whereas in full sunlight, it takes on a rich golden bronze. Truly delightful.

The interior has handsome rich dark chocolate Connolly hides with light tan carpets adorning the same chocolate leather on the edge piping. The same theme carries through to the boot.

The car proudly boasts a low 25,000 miles!

The Silver Shadow II was the ultimate of the Shadow series with many engineering upgrades to include rack & pinion steering, revised suspension geometry for a surer ride, factory dual (quiet) exhaust, climate control air conditioning and a revised dash board lay-out.

This is an very original unmolested example that has been beautifully maintained and presents in excellent condition. An East coast Rolls-Royce that has had a very “dry” life without any rust or scale – clearly a car that has been cosseted in a garage environment. As a result, it has been freed from the perils of harsh weather and is very clean underneath. It has always been well maintained and serviced and comes with its original manual.

The Shadow II presented here has been fully work-shop by us at Park-Ward. Important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes are fully inspected and serviced as required. This includes brake pumps, accumulators and checking of all brake hoses and system pressure tested and bled. It is ready to drive and enjoy. The odometer shows a low 25,800 and although this is not verifiable with documentation, there can be no question it is accurate (particularly when you look at the condition of the interior, under-hood, brake pedal etc). It is very quiet and smooth on the road without any of the typical “thumps” and “rattles” typical of poor (or even averagely) maintained examples of this model.

I cant stress enough, just how beautiful this Shadow II is. The interior is simply wonderful. The chocolate leather is in great condition with little to no wear nor fading and true to its Connolly characteristics. The leather really has been lovingly preserved and shows the correct amount of patina. The burr walnut wood throughout the car is stunning. All the wood appears to be original. It is rare not see the wood cracked and peeling so for these to be original and only proves its low mileage and cosseted life-style. And, you have to thank Mother Nature for its beauty. The grain and pattern with think knots makes it one of the most beautiful for Rolls-Royce. Absolutely stunning!

The head lining is a unique feature in this example as it is all genuine leather. North American cars came standard with broad cloth  wool and most of the other markets had Ambla vinyl fitted. Leather was  an option and this is one of very few cars ordered with this option. It is in perfect condition. The original Wilton wool carpets with leather binding are in excellent condition. Likewise is the leather finish to the dash and top-roll. Even the boot (trunk) carpet with the same theme is in amazingly excellent condition.

The exterior presentation of this Silver Shadow II is stunning. The body is exceptionally straight and the paint is of excellent high standard and finish. Areas of the paint appear to be original which is quite unusual for a Silver Shadow as they usually all are faded by this juncture. There is some very slight fade on the left-side hood but it is minor and nothing that regular polishing won’t maintain. All over she is shiny, lustrous and totally consistent with only the most minor  marks and blemishes here and there. A regular polish and wax from time to time and this car is great!

The car has a brand new set of white-wall tyres fitted so 100% tread and the hubcaps are excellent with no imperfections in the stainless rings or caps. All remaining bright-work is in good condition. All electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. Even the clock keeps good time!

Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life. The under-bonnet heat pads are in good shape. You must take the time to look at the photos of the engine bay as its presentation is like that of only a 5 year old example. Simply stunning!

As you would expect, this Silver Shadow II comes with its original jack, correct tools and operating manual.

The car is of very high standard and is an easy 10 out of 10 driver rating.

~~ This stately Silver Shadow II is an excellent condition representation of the marque that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Do nothing to her and take her to your next Rolls-Royce meet and you will attract considerable attention and be “prize-worthy”! ~~

International bidders are always welcome.
